Iceland 2024
I went to Iceland for the first time about six years ago. I took a solo trip, hired a car and drove The Golden Circle - a circular route of natural landmarks that takes about a day to get around - and then along the south coast to Jokulsarlon. Otherwise I mostly just hung out in Reykjavik, but I loved it.
While there I read a little bit about Route 1 - the ring road around the island - and immediately added it to my bucket list. This year I finally went back and drove the whole route over five days. Below are a handful of photos from the trip.

While it was an incredible trip, i’m not totally sure i’d recommend doing it in late February. We were extremely lucky with the weather - particularly the glorious clear skies as we went along the south coast - but getting around the north of the island was done in a snow cloud, with most side roads being impassable, even in a 4x4. That said, the choice of doing it in winter did mean there weren’t quite as many other tourists as there might be in summer - and anywhere more than a days round trip from Reykjavik felt blissfully isolated.
