Walked The Philosopher’s Path in Kyoto yesterday expecting it to be absolutely heaving with tourists (like everywhere else in Kyoto) and was delighted to find it almost completely quiet.

Coming to the end of a beautiful few days in Kyoto.

Went to the coast of Izu Peninsula yesterday, to a weird little seaside town that had an aqua park, a view of Mount Fuji and almost nothing else, but had a really lovely day taking things extremely slowly.

I’ll do a full Japan blog post or two in the next week or so but going to share some favourite photos as I go.

I enjoyed this a lot and honestly it probably only lost stars here because I had a couple of extended breaks where I wasn’t able to read for a while and somewhat lost the thread, but it’s a beautiful book and parts of it I found extremely affecting.

I’m off to Japan again on Thursday. The last time we were there in 2023 was one of the most incredible trips I’ve ever taken, so this one has a fair bit to live up to. I took this photo of Mount Fuji out of the window of a cable car going over a sulphur pit near Hakone – the only point we could actually see the mountain from at any point in the trip.

Can’t recommend Company Retreat enough. It’s the sequel to Jury Duty, which was also incredible, and does “everyone’s an actor except one person” arguably even better.
